Minimally Invasive Synopsis

Minimally Invasive is a medical thriller. The story begins when an FDA investigator is killed in a suspicious subway accident the night before he is due to file a report on Wolfe Enterprises. His colleague, Jasmine Contee, is sent to the U.S. Virgin Islands to re-open the case. Jasmine’s Caribbean roots, advanced degrees in medicine and neuroscience, and strong desire to stop drug addiction make her the perfect agent to investigate Dr. Wolfe’s claim that deep brain stimulation will cure alcoholism and drug addiction. If true, DBS will save millions of lives, and Dr. Wolfe’s profits will run in the billions. Initially, Jasmine struggles to maintain her professional skepticism in the face of her hope that the eccentric scientist/doctor has developed a lasting cure for addiction. But when three well-known Saint Thomian rummies vanish, a crooked cop’s harassment turns ugly and the bizarre deaths of several beautiful and powerful women appear connected, Jasmine and a young, idealistic marine biologist, Nicole Hommel—who is fighting her own battle with alcoholism—race to uncover the deadly truth about what really happens in the surgical suites at Wolfe Enterprises before they become the next victims.
